Learning Outcomes

The student will learn the electrical hazards and the safety regulations related with electricity-related works, and learns how to ensure safety in a laboratory environment, electricity-related works and while planning electricity-related works. She/He will also learn how to act correctly in case of an accident with electricity involved.

Student's Workload

27 h, containing 10 h of contact studies and 18 h of individual work. The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents

Safety Instruction for Electrical Installation. Electrical hazards and danger caused by electricity. The general working rules and safety regulations for the electrical engineering laboratories of Technobothnia. First aid education according to standard SFS 6002. Actions at the site of an accident, how to make a brief study of a patient for first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, how to remove a foreign body from the respiratory tract, burns, bruisings and cuts, accidents with electricity. The first aid education contains both theory and practicing.

Assessment Methods

In order to pass the course, the students must take part in at least 75 % of the given lectures. Further, she/he must take part in the given first aid course and the introduction to the Technobothnia laboratory. A written examination on electrical safety, which is passed if the student collects at least 75 % of the maximum amount of points.
