Learning Outcomes

The students work in groups and learn to combine theory and practice e.g. when parametrising a new protection relay and configurating changes in commissioning situation and to draw up a report on the commissioning. Alternatively, the student group go into the special characteristics of a electrical design software.

Student's Workload

Total work load of the course 55 h
Scheduled studies 28 h
Autonomous studies 27 h
The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

Study units, in the power Distribution Systems common core theme, Relay Protection, Design of Power Networks, and Engineering of Electrical System in Buildings.

Contents

The subject matters delat with in the common core theme are deepened in the project working in groups. The topic can be e.g. the commissioning of a new type of protection relayand the documentation of the protection. As an essential part, the study on the charactestics of a protection relay and taking the setting software into use. Protection calculations are made for the commissioning and testing connections for the commissioning situations are designed. Changes in the circuit diagrams are documented and a report is drawn up on the commissioning project.
