Learning Outcomes

The student regards safety as an important part of professional ethics. The student is aware of the significance of the occupational and industrial safety and knows the ways in which safety at the workplace is maintained and developed. The student completed the required exams for occupational safety and first aid card.
The student knows the safety regulations connected with electrical work and learns to take care of occupational safety in the laboratory, electrical work and when planning the electrical work and learns to act correctly in case of an electrical accident. The student completed the required exams for Safety at Electrical Works card.

Contents

The main regulations of occupational safety. Occupational safety at work place. Work-related illnesses and hazards, their assessment and elimination. General work instruction at work place and risk factors and their elimination, as well as preparing for accidents and first aid measures.
Standard SFS 6002 Safety at electrical work. Protection against electric danger and protection classes of electrical installations, residual current circuit protection, protection against electric shock, contents of standard SFS 6002.
General work and safety instructions for Technobothnia Electrical Engineering Laboratories, induction to the Technobothnia Laboratories.
First Aid Training according to standard SFS6002. Action in case of injuries, examination of the patient for emergency first aid, blowing and resuscitation, burns, crush and incisions, electrical accidents. Training includes both theoretical training and practical training.
At the end of the course the student will receive the occupational safety card and Safety at Electrical Works card.
He has also the opportunity to buy the emergency first aid card from SPR.

Assessment Criteria

1: The student is able, with guidance, to utilize the methods learnt during the study unit.
3: The student is able to utilize the methods learnt during the study unit independently.
5: The student is able to utilise the methods learnt during the study unit independently and combine the knowledge with previously learnt in various contexts

Assessment Methods

Participation in at least 75% of contact lessons and to the First Aid Training and induction to the Technobothnia Laboratories. Written exam in which at least 75% of the answers have to be correct to pass the exam.
