Learning Outcomes

1. Spa Management: The student will learn through lectures, workshops, open discussions and company visits. The course explores the multifaceted responsibilities of the spa manager in a seasonal hospitality environment while examining spa culture and current trends. The course offers students an “insider’s view” of spa operations. Guest speakers from spas and spa resorts will be an integral part of the course.

2. MICE Industry Management: MICE industry is an essential component of the tourism product. Hospitality and tourism management requires an understanding of the main aspects facing the convention and exhibition manager from the marketing, management and organization of facilities to the detailed planning of conventions, meetings, incentive and exhibitions. Students will recognize the significance of the MICE industry as part of the overall tourism product.

1. Spa Management: History of the Spa Industry, Concepts of Spa, Trend of Spa Business, Case Study: Spa Situations around the World, Spa Regulations and Ethics, Managing Spa Functions, Marketing Strategy, Management of Service Providers and Support Staff, Financial Analysis and Budgeting, Treatments and Treatment Menu, Activities in different types of Spa; Destination Spa, Day Spa, Medical Spa, Types of Massage, Workshop; Exercise, Deep Relaxation.

2.Introduction to MICE Industry, Key Players in MICE Industry, Meeting and Convention Industry, the Roles of PCO (Professional Convention Organizer), Incentive Industry, The Roles of DMC (Destination Management Company), Exhibition and Tradeshow, The Roles of PEO (Professional Exhibition Organizer), Venue Management, Planning of Event (Pre-Event Activities), Marketing and Promotion of the Event, Presentation of the Project.
