Osaamistavoitteet
This course is designed as an additional module to help students reach the B1.1 level of Finnish language proficiency. It focuses on improving fluency and accuracy for everyday and professional communication.
After completing the course, students will be able to:
pronounce Finnish clearly and fluently
understand texts that use frequent everyday or job-related language
discuss topics of personal interest and everyday life (e.g., family, hobbies, work, cultural differences, housing, current events)
understand the main points of clear, standard speech on familiar matters and current affairs
write simple, connected texts on familiar or personally relevant topics
give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans
express opinions, agreement, and disagreement
narrate experiences and events in a simple story

Arviointikriteerit
Students are evaluated based on participation, assignments, and ability to communicate in simple everyday situations.
Satisfactory (1–2): Can describe some aspects of everyday life and provide limited information on general topics.
Good (3–4): Shows an active attitude toward learning Finnish and culture by completing tasks on time. Can use various sentence structures, compare qualities, and discuss topics such as family life, culture, and sports. Writes short texts (e.g., emails) and pronounces Finnish clearly.
Excellent (5): Demonstrates a positive and active attitude toward learning Finnish and expresses genuine interest in Finnish culture, often comparing it to their own. Communicates intelligibly in everyday situations using varied and appropriate expressions in both spoken and written communication, with grammar mostly correct.
