Understand addiction as a disease.
Explain therapeutic interaction factors in caring for clients with substance abuse issues and their families in a mental health-promoting, preventive, and resource-oriented manner.
Recognize the effects of substance use on individual and family well-being.
Identify client care and support needs in various settings and understand the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in working with clients with substance abuse problems.
Understand the basic principles of violence prevention.
Know key legislation, ethical guidelines, and principles as well as the service system related to substance abuse and violence work.
Apply key preventive substance abuse methods in client work.
