Course Overview and Learning Objectives
This course provides students with an individualized clinical training experience, designed to build upon the knowledge and skills acquired in previous courses. The objectives of the training are tailored to each student’s learning progress and competence level, ensuring a gradual advancement in clinical skills. Students will apply evidence-based nursing interventions, strengthen professional interaction, and deepen their understanding of patient-centered care in diverse healthcare contexts.
The course also offers flexibility for students to complete their clinical skills training as exchange studies, for example in their home country or another approved healthcare setting, while maintaining alignment with the program’s learning objectives.
Learning Objectives: After completing the course, the student:
Acts responsibly and professionally in clinical settings, following relevant work culture and guidelines.
Applies principles of patient and occupational safety, aseptic technique, and infection prevention.
Demonstrates professional interaction and communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Assesses patient needs and resources, and plans care based on prior knowledge and skills.
Integrates ethical principles and cultural sensitivity into nursing practice.
Participates in care documentation and reporting.
Reflects on personal competence and development needs.

The student
Acts unprofessionally or fails to follow guidelines.
Cannot perform required nursing tasks or ensure patient safety.

Additional Language-Related Assessment Information (when the training takes place in Finland):
A separate language agreement will be made with the student, describing methods for supporting Finnish language learning during training.
Language development goals will be defined by an S2 teacher.
Language proficiency level cannot be a reason for failing the practical training period.
