Osaamistavoitteet
This course aims to develop professional competence in clinical nursing practice, focusing on patient-centered care, ethical principles, and effective interaction in diverse healthcare environments. Students will learn to apply evidence-based nursing interventions, act responsibly within Finnish work culture, and critically reflect on their professional skills.
After completing the course, the student:
Can act responsibly and professionally in clinical settings, following Finnish work culture and guidelines.
Understands and applies basic principles of patient and occupational safety, infection prevention, and sustainable development.
Shows an interest and participates in patient interaction.
Recognizes ethical issues in social and healthcare contexts.
Becomes familiar with patient documentation and reporting.

Professional Interaction and Communication: Principles of collegiality, cultural sensitivity, and ethical considerations.
Clinical Nursing Skills: Basic nursing interventions, ergonomics, hygiene, nutrition, elimination, care of dying patients, and rehabilitation-oriented approaches.
Safety and Infection Control: Aseptic technique, patient and occupational safety.
Drug Care: Basic concepts of medication, dosage forms, and administration routes.

Pass Criteria: The student

Applies aseptic nursing principles and ethical guidelines in practice.

Fail Criteria: The student
Does not act responsibly or follow guidelines.
Fails to apply aseptic and ethical standards in nursing.
Is unable to interact professionally, responsibly and as part of the work team.
Does not document care appropriately or reflect on professional development.

Additional Language-Related Assessment Information
A separate language agreement will be made with the student, describing, among other things, the methods for supporting Finnish language learning during the training.
The goals for the student’s language development will be defined by an S2 (Finnish as a second language) teacher. Student’s language proficiency level cannot be a reason for failing the practical training period.
