Osaamistavoitteet
This course prepares international nursing students for all stages of their thesis process. Students will develop skills in academic writing and information literacy, including searching for scientific information, evaluating and using scholarly sources, and applying academic writing conventions. The course also covers institutional writing guidelines (APA 7), thesis-related practices such as the maturity test, and provides guidance on plagiarism policies and responsible use of AI tools in thesis work.
After completing the course, students will:
Write clear, structured academic texts following APA 7 guidelines.
Search, evaluate, and use scholarly sources effectively in studies and working life.
Use health science databases effectively for evidence-based practice.
Apply principles of information literacy to identify credible sources and avoid misinformation.
Apply institutional and ethical standards in thesis writing.
Demonstrate understanding of plagiarism policies and responsible AI use.
Prepare for implementation and reporting thesis.

Academic writing process: planning, paraphrasing, summarizing, referencing, and integrating sources

Arviointikriteerit
Pass: The student meets the course objectives, completes all required assignments on time, demonstrates academic writing and information literacy skills, and actively participates in learning activities.
Fail: The student does not meet the course objectives, fails to submit required assignments, or does not demonstrate sufficient academic writing and information literacy skills.
