Osaamistavoitteet

The student knows the thesis process and the core principles of scientific work and planning of research. The student masters the basics of academic writing. The student gets acquainted with essential quantitative and qualitative research methods and learns to choose suitable methods based on the research problem at hand. The student reflects on his/her own thesis' topic, research problem, and theoretical background.

Arviointikriteerit

Excellent 5: The student is able to critically evaluate his/her own and other authors' academic texts regarding fluency of language, structure, formulation of research problem, theoretical framework and description and implementation of research methods. The student knows well the basics of research methods and is able to choose appropriate methods for the research problem at hand. The student chooses a relevant and challenging topic for his own thesis and addresses it critically.

Good 3: The student is able to evaluate his/her own and other authors' academic texts regarding fluency of language, structure, formulation of research problem, theoretical framework and description and implementation of research methods. The student knows the basics of research methods and is able to choose appropriate methods for the research problem at hand. The student chooses a relevant topic for his own thesis and addresses it coherently.

Satisfactory 1: The student understands other authors' academic texts and is able to produce his/her own text. The student knows to some extent the basics of research methods. The student chooses a topic for his own thesis and addresses its main points.
