Osaamistavoitteet

The aim is to give the student the professional German vocabulary required in the hotel and restaurant business and in tourism enterprises together with basic knowledge of German culture. The student will have the knowledge needed for various customer service situations and he/she will be able to present Finland to tourists. The student wants to learn and improve his/her oral and written language skills needed in hotels and restaurants and in contact with tourists. The student will be able to understand and use the vocabulary required in customer service and he/she will also know the special features of German culture.

Professional restaurant vocabulary, customer service situations, language usage situations in customer service in hotels and tourism enterprises, Finnish culture and tourism, presentations, dealing with complaints, ancillary services, customer satisfaction.

Arviointikriteerit

Grade 1= The student knows the basic terminology of the field and has a satisfactory command of the language both orally and in writing. S/he understands the main points of texts in the field.
Grade 3= The student has a good oral and written command of the language and s/he can apply her/his skills in working life situations. S/he understands texts in the field.
Grade 5= The student has an excellent oral and written command of the language, s/he communicates fluently and can apply her/his skills in an versatile manner. S/he understands texts in the field without difficulty.

Arviointimenetelmät

Active course participation, completed assignments, presentations, project report, written and oral examination, self-assessment, logbook. Numeric scale (0-5).
