Osaamistavoitteet

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

- Configure switches and end devices to provide access to local and remote network resources.
- Explain how physical and data link layer protocols support the operation of Ethernet in a switched network.
- Configure routers to enable end-to-end connectivity between remote devices.
- Create IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes and verify network connectivity between devices.
- Explain how the upper layers of the OSI model support network applications.
- Configure a small network with security best practices.
- Troubleshoot connectivity in a small network.

Sisältö

The course is the 1st of 3 courses in the Cisco CCNAv7 curriculum.

CCNAv7: Introduction to Networks (ITN) covers the architecture, structure, functions and components of the Internet and other computer networks. Students achieve a basic understanding of how networks operate and how to build simple local area networks (LAN), perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement Internet Protocol (IP).

The CCNAv7 curriculum helps students develop workforce readiness skills and builds a foundation for success in networking-related careers and degree programs.

Kansainvälisyys

In VAMK you can study the CCNA 7 courses. This 3-course series is designed to prepare you for the CCNA Certification. Cisco Certifications are highly valued by employers globally.
Roles you can step into after CCNA studies are for example Network or Network Support Engineer, Network Operations Engineer, Network Administrator, Sales Engineer/Virtual Account Manager.

All course materials are prepared by Cisco and are available online.

Opetusmuoto / Opetusmenetelmät

The course includes activities using Packet Tracer, hands-on lab work, and a wide array of assessment types and tools.

Learning method is hybrid: the majority of the course you can study online time-independently, at your own pace. You can start the course at any time during the academic year. The real equipment labs and the Final Exams are carried out in the room A2029 according student’s progress.
All course materials are online, including course text and related interactive media, Packet Tracer simulation activities, real equipment labs, and many different types of quizzes and Chapter Exams. All of these materials provide important feedback to help you assess your progress throughout the course.
