Osaamistavoitteet

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• Operate laboratory-scale renewable energy systems (e.g. PV panels, wind turbines, bioenergy setups)
• Measure and interpret key performance parameters using appropriate instrumentation
• Apply energy efficiency concepts to laboratory settings
• Evaluate system outputs under varying operational conditions
• Document findings in technical laboratory reports

Opiskelijan työmäärä

Total workload: 135 hours
- Laboratory sessions and instructor-led activities: 70 h
- Independent study, reporting, and preparation: 65 h
Includes 1 hour of student self-assessment within contact time

Students must have valid occupational and electrical safety certification. Completion of introductory courses in energy technology and renewable energy systems is recommended.

Sisältö

This applied laboratory course provides students with hands-on experience in renewable energy technologies. Focusing on solar, wind, and bioenergy systems, students will engage in experimental work, data collection, system performance analysis, and energy efficiency assessments. The course builds practical skills in renewable energy system operation, instrumentation, and safety protocols, preparing students for professional roles in energy projects or advanced studies.

Opetusmuoto / Opetusmenetelmät

Laboratory sessions, small group work, measurement tasks, hands-on experiments, reporting, and optional site visits to renewable energy installations.

Arviointikriteerit

Grade 1 - 2 (Pass): Student can safely carry out basic experiments and report findings.
Grade 3 - 4 (Good): Student demonstrates consistent performance, data interpretation, and sound reporting.
Grade 5 (Excellent): Student performs all tasks independently, shows initiative, and delivers analytical and well-documented results.

Arviointimenetelmät

Laboratory reports, observation of practical performance, data interpretation assignments, and final project presentation or exam.
