Learning Outcomes
The student masters the aims and objectives of landscape theory and is able to apply it in planning of the landscape as a functional whole. Student learns to understand the landscape as a structural entity in continuous change and creates an ability to plan comprehensive solutions for man made landscapes, which follow the local nature base. Student is acquainted with environmental planning procedures and has professional ability for cross-scientific team work.

The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.
Contents
Landscape structure theory in environmental planning; drainage basin analysis as a tool in land use planning; elements of the landscape; landscape as organic and functional whole; European landscape convention; water cycle and waterscape in planning; organic stormwater management strategies; eco-system services; green area classification; green structures in built environments; principles of sustainable land use; principles of landscape restoration and revitalization; energy in landscape; built environment and climate change.

Lectures and theoretical studies 45 h, team work, field studies and tutorials for course portfolio 25 h,
research reports and individual course portfolio work 65 h
Assessment Criteria
Grade 5: The student shows development tendency, masters the requirements and the contents of the study unit and can apply what s/he has learn in independent work excellently. The student has completed all assignments in a given time.
Grade 3: The student masters the majority of requirements and the contents of the study unit and is able to apply well what s/he has learnt in independent work. The student has completed all requires assignments.
Grade 1: The student shows that s/he knows some of the requirements and contents of the study unit and can apply what s/he has learn when assisted. The student has completed all required assignments with grade pass.
Assessment Methods
Written exam 50% and required study research reports as part of the students individual course portfolio 50%. Numeric assessment.
