Learning Outcomes

The student will know how to plan a project for developing business information systems and how to act as a member in such a project. The student will gain knowledge and understanding in defining, planning, managing and following up project activities.

Contents

The lectures are online and are available in the VAMK Portal (Moodle).
The theoretical part is divided into 5 parts with Reading to do and other study material to cover (1p = 1h of estimated study work):
Part 0: Getting started – 1p
Part 1: An Overview; The Role of the Project Manager – 10p
Part 2: Project Planning; Mission, Vision, Goals and Objectives – 10p
Part 3: Risk Planning; Control and Evaluation – 10p
Part 4: Work Breakdown Structure; Scheduling – 10p
Part 5: Managing the Project Team; Project Models – 10p

Self tests as quizzes – 25p (a quiz for each part = 5 x 5p)
A small Research Task – 5p

Internationality

The study material and the language of instruction are all in English and will improve the student´s language skills

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is available in a virtual education environment and and consists of several parts and lectures. Each part gives the student new theoretical material to study and in the end submit an assignment.
In some parts there will be self tests. The lectures are available throughout the whole course but the assignments will be given deadlines that must be followed.

Assessment Methods

Weekly assignments, self tests, reflections, a small research task. The approach of Task Oriented Learning is used. All study performances will give points and the students are supposed to work and perform during the whole course. The points will be visible in the Portal in "Grades".
