Learning Outcomes

The course is divided into two different subject areas, one of which deals with safety and the other with producing a technical report.

In the course, the student learns to understand occupational safety as an essential part of professional ethics. After the course, the student becomes aware of the importance of occupational safety and protection and knows the operating methods used to maintain and develop workplace safety. Completion of work safety and emergency first aid studies is an essential part of completing the course. The student learns to know the safety regulations related to electrical work and to take care of work safety in the laboratory, electrical work and electrical work planning, as well as to act correctly in the event of an electrical accident.

The student is able to produce stylish reports and presentations efficiently with tool programs, knows how to describe the goals of his own degree program, professional image, as well as the expectations of the local labor market and opportunities in an international business environment. After completing the course, the student can use the information systems and learning platforms of both VAMK and the University of Vaasa, can use the educational institutions' guidance services and use information search tools. In addition, he knows how to work in a study community with students and staff, creating a common spirit and taking responsibility for his own learning.

Contents

Security subject:

Key occupational safety regulations. Occupational safety in a shared workplace. Employer's and employee's rights and obligations. Orientation, job guidance and interaction. Identification, assessment and prevention of work-related hazards and stress factors. The principles of safe and healthy working and the importance of the supervisor's activities for occupational safety. Standard SFS 6002 Electrical work safety. Protection and protection classes of electrical equipment, fault current protection, dangers caused by electricity and protection from them, key content of standard SFS6002, operating procedures and function checks, working practices.
General working and safety instructions for the electrical engineering laboratories of the Technobothnia laboratory. Introduction to the Technobothnia laboratory. First aid training according to standard SFS 6002. Operations at the scene, examining the patient for emergency first aid, ventilation and pressure resuscitation, removing a foreign object from the airways, burns, contusions and lacerations, accidents in electrical work. The training includes both theoretical training and practical training. At the end of the course, the student receives work safety and electrical work safety cards, and he has the opportunity to purchase an emergency first aid card from SPR if he wishes.

Technical report production subject:

This section is divided into three sub-sections (the important issues are selected for each syllabus):
1. Study guidance: My study program, choice options, personal learning plan, professional image of my field as well as work tasks and market, EnergyVaasa, study environment and support functions, student association activities, persons related to teaching and support functions, income interview, development discussion, linking internship to degree and international student exchange.
2. Information retrieval: library services and information retrieval methods.
3. Computer use:
3.1. Word processing: Writing a report with a word processing program (Word), basic functions and layouts, adding images and graphs to the report, styles and references, formula editor and other functions that make writing a report easier.
3.2. Spreadsheet: Documentation of measurement results with a spreadsheet (Excel), basic functions and layouts, production of various graphs and other functions that support making a measurement protocol.
3.3. Presentation graphics: Editing images with an image processing program. PowerPoint presentation templates, content production and power tools.

Assessment Criteria

The student can apply the information consistently and apply it in practice. Can act as a member of a group in accordance with the set goals and act naturally in interaction situations. Can search for information from various information sources in the field. Can solve the given task independently. Can justify his actions in accordance with professional ethical and responsible principles.
