Learning Outcomes

The student will become familiar with the basic concepts of classical mechanics, they will understand the physical contents of the three Newton's laws and the laws of conservation, and they will be able to apply all these. At first, particles are considered as point-like objects with no shape. Such particles do not experience any resistance from any medium in which they travel. Later on, the shape and mass distribution of the objects will b considered. This leads to concepts, quantities and natural laws related with rotational motion of rigid bodies. The student will acquire a general view of Physics as an important building block of all science. In addition to the theoretical understanding, the student will learn how to perform experimental work in laboratory environment. She will learn to record the obtained results in a logical way, and she will be able to analyse the data in a scientific manner. Further, the student will learn to estimate the accuracy of her/his experimental results, and she will understand the importance of being critical with the results.

Student's Workload

135 h, containing 50 h of scheduled contact studies.
