Learning Outcomes

The student will be introduced to the design of electronics, the software used in designing and the use of these programs. In addition, the student will become familiar with the printed circuit board (PCB) technology and with the characteristics of CAD programs and their use.

Student's Workload

81 h, out of which 30 h of contact studies. The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

Digital Electronics I.

Contents

Applications of operation amplifier, switched-mode power supplies and the H bridge, design of heat flow, simulations, design of circuit boards, the tools of designing, FPGA designing, PCB design process using CAD.

Recommended or Required Reading and Other Learning Resources/Tools

The material delivered by the teacher.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures, design assignments and working with a PC.

Assessment Criteria

1: Knows the operational mechanism of the most common electronics components, and is familiar with the designing tools of electronics circuits.
3: Is able to design a simple circuit and can ensure the result by making a corresponding simulation.
5: Has obtained broad knowledge of behaviour of electronics connections and is able to apply different kinds of software to realise a given task.

Assessment Methods

Assignments, an examination.
