Learning Outcomes
The student will get an overview of telecommunication engineering, master the concepts related to the subject, understand the general phenomena appearing in it and know how to apply knowledge to practice.

The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents
The concepts, units and methods of the telecommunication engineering. Signals and Spectra. Types of modulations. Noise. Electromagnetic fields and waves; filters, transmission lines, antennas and propagation of radio waves. Optical transmission. Basic idea of different telecommunication equipment, networks and systems.

Assessment Criteria
Grade 5: The student understands at least 90% of lecture content and is able to do advanced design and calculation of telecommunication system.
Grade 3: The student understands at least 60% of lecture content.
Grade 1: The student understands at least 40% of lecture content.
