Learning Outcomes

The aim is to extend the already acquired Finnish skills. All areas of language are studied: communicative skills/speaking vocabulary and grammar as well as reading and understanding.

The aim is also to offer the students the opportunity to speak with students and/ or other individuals outside the course group.

Note that best results are reached if the student also studies and uses Finnish outside the classroom.

Contents

Revision and of basic vocabulary and structures, vocabulary and phrases with emphasis on everyday situations, some specialised professional vocabulary in the students' own field of study. Introduction to cultural elements.

Internationality

Living in the Finnish society as someone coming from the outside of the country improves.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Oral and written exercises based on the course material, pair work, presentations, assignments.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1: The student has a satisfactory command of the language both orally and in writing
Grade 3: The student has a good command of the language both orally and in writing and he/she can apply his/her skills in practice
Grade 5: The student has an excellent command of the language both orally and in writing and he/she can apply his/her skills in a versatile manner.

Assessment Methods

Active class participation, completed assignments, oral and written examinations. Numerical (0-5).
