Learning Outcomes

The student evaluates the growth and development of children and adolescents and the importance of the growth environment in promoting healthy growth. The student identifies the need for special support among children and adolescents and their families and plans the follow-up process and referral to care/ treatment.

Public health nursing of children and adolescents, the follow-up methods for monitoring the development of children and adolescents, health promotion and immunizations, early interaction and specific support, multi-professional collaboration and family-service network.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5
The student
- is able to evaluate children´s and adolescents´ growth and development and also the meaning of growth environment remembering individual differencies
- is able to guide children, adolescents and families in the development of healthy sexuality with an individual approach
- is able to evaluate the need for special support and for further treatment for a child, and adolescent and a family
- is able to use multiprofessional service network with a client-oriented approach

Grade 3
The student
- is able to evaluate children´s and adolescents´ growth and development
- is able to guide children, adolescents and families in the development of healthy sexuality
- is able to identify the need for special support for a child, and adolescent and a family
- is able to work in multiprofessional teams

Grade 1:
The student
- is able to describe the main characteristics of children´s and adolescents` growth and development
- is able to guide superficially children, adolescents and families in the development of healthy sexuality
- is able to describe the need for special support for a child, and adolescent and a family
- is able to name important co-operation partners

Assessment Methods

Active participation in lectures and exercises. Exam. Numerical evaluation/ grading 0-5, clinical practice and assignment affect the final grade. Paediatric courses are completed by participating in all lectures.
