Learning Outcomes

The student is able to understand professional texts and spoken language of his own field. He is also able to communicate in English in oral and written situations common in working life. The students understands that professional language register differs from other language registers.

The student extends his vocabulary in information technology and business. The student has a positive attitude towards continuous and independent acqusition of better language skills.

80 h of which 40 in the classroom and 40 independently

Matriculation Examination or Working English.

Contents

Business and IT-terminology. Current articles and texts in the feild of study. Written and oral tasks. Company and product presentations, business communication and messages.

Material compiled by the teacher and the student as instructed by the teacher (portfolio).

Classroom and independent tasks.

Assessment Criteria

5 the student has strong English and communication skills as well as aims at developing the skills furhter independently
3 the student has adequate English skills and working communication skills. In addition the student shows interst in developing the skills.
1 the student has enough skills to understand the basics and communicate the understanding. The student is able to express ideas on a simple level. The student is willing to try to develop language and communication skills.

Assessment Methods

Continuous assesment based on the work completed during the course and a test.
