Learning Outcomes
The student forms an overall impression of the role and the meaning of an operating
system in the cases of a workstation and a server. The student acquires the skills and knowledge needed in order to control operating systems taught during the course.

Contents
Becoming familiar with the Windows and Linux operating systems. Learning to install both systems. Installing servers and workstations. Learning to control one's own computer and network using operating systems. Studing Linux operating system starts from the basics. Studies in Windows are concentrated in the data communication and network abilities of Windows 2003.

Assessment Criteria
1 = The student aquires the knowledge of theory for solving basic exercises and is able to solve basic exercises.
3 = The student is able to solve more difficult exercises by using the theory.
5= The student is able to apply the knowledge and develope own models for solving exercises.
Assessment Methods
Class teaching, tasks and tests and the student's ability to solve problems and work in groups on projects. Numerical assessment (0-5).
