Learning Outcomes

The student becomes familiar with the requirements regarding message layout, business correspondence and the practices and media of informative communications. The student also becomes familiar with communication in information society and with the forms of social media today.

The student is able to produce documents which are appropriate in content, form and language. The student internalises the purpose and significance of communication in working life.

Contents

Basics of business communication, channels of communication, communicative skills, documents used in working life and their layout, appropriate language usage, correctness of language and style. Communication in information society and the use of social media.

Assessment Criteria

1 = Understands the role of organizational communication. Produces basic text used in working life. Has a picture of how social media works in the society.
3 = Understands the role of organizational communication. Produces basic text used in working life and uses styles according to situation and target group. Has a picture of how social media works in the society and can explain it's meaning in working life.
5 = Understands and is able to apply and justify organizational communication. Produces good quality text used in working life and uses styles according to situation and target group in excellent Finnish. Has a picture of how social media works in the society and can explain it's meaning in working life.

Assessment Methods

Participation in exercises, completed assignments, exam. Numeric (0-5)
