Learning Outcomes

The student is able to find statistical data and interpret statistical figures. The student is able to analyze statistical data with different statistics. The student knows the basics of correlation and regression analysis. The student can critically analyze the results acquired from the research. The student is able to use Excel software for statistical analysis.

Contents

Basic terms, statistical charts, parameter estimation, linear regression, dependence analysis, correlation. Using Excel in statistical research.

Assessment Criteria

5: Can utilise theories, concepts and methods of statistical research consistently in various situations. Can write to a restricted target group about theories, concepts and methods of statistical research. Can discuss the issues and phenomena in statistical research with a restricted target group.
3: Can utilize the essential concepts of statistical research in single situations and assignments and understand the theories on which the assignments are based. Can discuss the essential issues in statistics with a restricted target group. Can produce written and oral basic information of statistics.
1: Can recognise and understand the essential theories, principles and methods of statistical research. Can document essential phenomena of statistics and communicate about the essential issues of the field.

Assessment Methods

Project work (80%) and exercises (20%). Numerical 1-5.
