The aim of the thesis is to carry out an extensive development project for a work community. Students should be able to utilise the high level of expertise they have obtained during their studies to develop business operations in a work community.

Contents

The written part of the thesis contains the formulation of the problem, frame of reference, and the empirical analysis. Most of the work for the thesis involves practical development work in an enterprise. The idea behind the project is to develop, i.e. change, the work community. Therefore, the project is carried out in the work community and the influence of the performed measures will be evaluated as part of the thesis.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Students are responsible for the progress and success of their thesis work. An expert in the university of applied sciences, familiar with the thesis topic, functions as thesis supervisor. The supervisor provides encouragement and consultation throughout the thesis process. The thesis process is divided into two phases. In the first phase, students present their project plan to the supervisor and other students, which should include the aim of the project, the purpose, structure, procedures and initial sources. In the second phase, students present an interim report, which contains the frame of reference for the thesis. Thesis seminars are mandatory. Once the thesis is finished, students sit a Maturity Test, which is assessed by the thesis evaluator.

Assessment Criteria

1 The master thesis as a whole is very brief and of poor quality, theory is only loosely tied with the practical part and the objectives have not been fully attained.
3 Working has been active, the master thesis includes theoretical and empirical part and the objectives have been attained.
5 Working has been very active, the theoretical and empirical part are clearly integrated, the objectives have been attained commendably and includes new, practically suitable knowledge of the subject.

Assessment Methods

The thesis is evaluated by the supervisor and a separately chosen evaluator. The following factors are considered in evaluation: the significance of the results of the project to the enterprise, the thesis process, and the contents of the report, linguistic appearance, oral presentation, and the ability of the student to independently solve problems.
