Learning Outcomes

The student will attain writing and speaking skills in Swedish language required in one’s profession, as stipulated by The Language Decree 6.6.2003/424. The student will get familiar with business correspondence, meetings, negotiations and reports. The student will become professionally aware of the significancy of the course contents living in a bilingual country and Nordic community.

The assesment of student's own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents

Learning material according to the specialisation alternative; professional vocabulary in the field, texts, business communication and documents related to job application.

Regional Impact

The student will be introduced to companies in the field in Swedish.

Internationality

The student will be introduced to business life in the Nordic countries in Swedish.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Speaking exercises, communicative language learning, pair work, group work, home assignments and independent studying.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1:
The student can participate in predictable working life communication situations. The student is able to use simple structures and work-related words and expressions. The attitude toward learning Swedish is positive.

Grade 3:
The student manages fairly well in the most common predictable working life situations. The student is able to use different grammatical structures and phrases in work-related communication. The student has a fairly good command of vocabulary of his/her own field. The attitude toward learning Swedish is positive.

Grade 5:
The student is able to communicate on an advanced level. The student can interact fluently in different work-related situations and has an excellent command of grammatical structures and vocabulary. The attitude toward learning Swedish in positive. The student has an interest in improving his/her skills all the time.

Assessment Methods

Course participation, written and oral tasks, oral and written examinations. Grade in scale 1-5 /fail, as well as a grade in satisfactory (1-3) and good /4-5)/fail for speaking and writing skills, in accordance with the Language Decree on the second official language.
