Learning Outcomes

The student will know the development, structure and competition of Finnish and international retail supply chain.
The control systems for retailing in Finland and Europe are discussed. He/she will get a view of different working possibilities in retailing business.

Contents

The structure and development of the retail supply chains. The distribution chains, groups and retailers and wholesalers networking in various lines. International chains. The role of retailing in the society and rules for building shops in European countries.

Assessment Criteria

1: The student understands the variables that effect the retailing and service business. She can recognize different types of retailing businesses.

3: As in 1 and the student can plan a successfull shop for certain environment on the basis och market studies. She knows hos retailing is regulated in Finland and partly also in other countries in Europe.

5: As in 1 and 3 and the student can analyze the retailing markets in a specific area. On the bases of the research she can find a proper business opportunity and understands the cause and effect of the european regulation.
