Learning Outcomes
The student understands the necessity of mathematical methods in modern business environment.
The student masters the basic skills in mathematical methods and has the knowlegde of advanced methodologies.
The student can apply basic methods in everyday business environment.
The student will acquire the basic methodology for seeking and analyzing specialized information for writing essays and reports and conducting surveys and research projects typical for bachelor level.

Contents
The course consists of two parts:
* Business mathematics (3 cu) and Financial mathematics (3cu): student learns the basic methods used in everyday business calculations.
* Financial mathematics: student learns more advanced financial calculations
*Statistics (3 cu): student learns the basics of descriptive statistics.
*Methodology for Studies and Research (2 cu):
Information search and criteria for scientific knowledge. Definition of the research problem. Strategies in research: experiments, survey- and case studies. Qualitative and quantitative research methods. Planning of personal project for final thesis.

Assessment Criteria
5 = The student is able to utilise theories, concepts and methods consistently in various situations.
3 = The student is able to utilize essential concepts in single situations and assignments and understand the theories on which the assignments are based.
1 = The student is able to recognise and understand the essential theories, principles and methods.
Assessment Methods
The evaluation of the course is based on the student activity to participate to exercises, evaluation of exercises and on the test result.
