Learning Outcomes

Student:
- understands the meaning of healthy and safe work, as a part of a good life
- knows the essential laws, legislations and regulations concerning occupational healthcare
- understands the basics of good occupational healthcare
- knows the basics of compensation system
- understands the effect of physical, biological and chemical substances to health
- knows how to prevent physical and mental stress in different industries
- knows how to plan and do workplace visits and healthcare inspections in different working environments and evaluate
different proceeding methods
- knows how to give information, advice and guidance
- understands the meaning of writing a person sick in occupational health care
- knows how to work in multi-professional working environments to manage personals ability to work, work performance and and
work safety
- manages the essential working skills of a public health nurse in occupational health care

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

All other studies, except for advanced studies in health care and thesis.

Occupational health care working plan and work place visit.
Special features of different work place visits and health care inspections in different industries.

Regional Impact

The most important effect in terms of regional impact is to enable the employment of graduates of nurses in occupational health care in the region. The aim is to ensure that the content of nursing education meets the needs of working life.

The Stundet:

Grade 5
- can evaluate independently and with a client-oriented approach the relationship between work and health and can guide the client in preventing different health risks
- is able to identify work-related diseases and can refer the client to care when necessary
- is able to evaluate the employee´s exposure to risk factors and substances and accidents
- is able to work in a multiprofessional team and make development suggestions
- is able to evaluate and develop his/her own way of working

Grade 3
- can evaluate the relationship between work and health and can guide the client
- is able to prevent work-related diseases and general health risks and refers the client to care
- is able to identify the employee´s exposure to risk factors and substances and accidents
- is able to work in multiprofessional teams
- is able to apply to guidance and knowledge in his/her own work

Grade 1
- can identify the relationship between work and health and can guide the client
- is able to describe work-related diseases and can refer the client to care
- is able to describe the employee´s exposure to risk factors and substances and accidents
- understands the meaning of the work community
- understands the meaning of continuous guidance in her/his future work
