Learning Outcomes
The student learns to use information retrieval services and tool programs. The student knows the most important components of electric systems (generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and basic phenomena and laws) and their operations. The student also learns team work, basics of report writing and presentations skills.
Student's Workload
The total amount of student's work is 54 h, which contains 16 h of contact studies.

Contents
The following skills learnt during the study units of the common core theme are applied:
- methods of information retrieval
- generation plants
- transmission and distribution networks
- various forms of utilisation of electricity
- three-phase system usen in Finland
- most important basic electro-technical phenomena
- basic laws in electrical engineering
- documentation and reporting
- presentations skills

Assessment Criteria
Grade 1: The student is able to work as a active member of the project team and knows those subjects that are essential in the course
Grade 3: The student is able to work as a active member of the project team and can utilize the course contents well
Grade 5: The student is able to work as a active member of the project team and is able to apply creatively the contents of the course
Assessment Methods
Assesment is based on the technical contents of the written report, linguistic correctness and production of the report using electronic tools, as well as presentation skills.
