Learning Outcomes

The student learns independent information acquisition, gets practice in writing requests for quotation and placing orders. The student gets to know the basics of cost calculation and to apply it in product development. The student learns skills related to electrical engineering and to apply them in the design, implementation, testing and documentation of a measuring device. The student also learns team working and report writing skills and the use of office applications.

Student's Workload

The total amount of student's work is 54 h, which contains 28 h of contact studies.

Contents

The following skills learnt during the study unit of the common core theme are applied in the project:
- methods od information acquisition
- writing requests for quotation and placing orders
- making cost calculation in product development
- functional design of a measuring device
- sensor technology and choosing components
- design and assembly of a circuit board
- A/D conversions
- testing methods
- documentation and reporting

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5: The student is able to act as an active member of a group and is able to apply creatively the contents of the course.

Grade 3: The student is able to act as an active member of a group and is well-abled to utilize the course contents.

Grade 1: The student is able to act as an active member of a group and knows the subjects of the course, which are necessary for the forthcoming studies and working life.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is based on project work and the report.
