Learning Outcomes

The student knows the regulations and norms which direct medication care and know-how demands of the nurse's medication care. The student knows the basic concepts of the medical treatment and the effects of medicines and the information retrieval methods. The student commands the mathematical basics required for the solving of medicine dosage calculations. The student carries out the patient's pharmacotherapy

Contents

Regulation concerning pharmacothepray and the patient's rights in pharamcotherapy. Central concepts and medicine forms and the different ways of giving the medicine. Absorption, division and eliminating of drugs in organs. Central effect mechanisms of the drugs in the human organism. Follow-up and documentation of pharmacothepray. Dosage of medicines the natural way and as injections. Ordering, storing and destroying of medicines. Implementing prescriptions and acquisition of the information which is related to the medical treatment. Mathematical basic skills. Drug dosage calculations. Practical exercises on implementing pharmacotherapy

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5
The student
-is able to calculate medicine dosages correctly
-is able to describe and control the implementation of the regulations, norms, and recommendations regarding pharmacotherapy and can make development suggestions
- knows the concpets of pharmacotherapy and its implementation, works with a patient-oriented approach and is able to search for information in different pharmacotherapeutic data bases systematically
- can implement the patient´s pharmacotherapy / prescription, can make a self-evaluation and development suggestions


Grade 3
The student
-is able to calculate medicine dosages correctly
-is able to describe and control the implementation of the regulations, norms, and recommendations regarding pharmacotherapy
-knows the concpets of pharmacotherapy and its implementation and is able to search for information in different pharmacotherapeutic data bases
-is able to follow a medicine prescription, give the medicine and justify his/her choices and actions

Grade1
The student
-is able to calculate medicine dosages correctly
-is able to describe the regulations, norms, and recommendations regarding pharmacotherapy
-knows the concpets of pharmacotherapy and its implementation and is able to search for information in different pharmacotherapeutic data bases when supervised
-can administer medicine according to the instructions

Assessment Methods

Theoretical exam 90 %, mathematics exam 10 %; numerical evaluation/grading (0-5). Learning assignments, exercises, dosage calculation exam and virtual prescription test; evaluation pass/fail.
