The student recognizes the need for first aid, gives first aid in demanding situations and is familiar with health care in special circumstances.

Student's Workload

The student’s amount of work altogether 54 h.
The assesment of student's own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents

First aid (FRC I and II) and special circumstances. First aid teaching according to the guidelines of the Finnish Red Cross (FRC), elementary and advanced courses in first aid and information about special circumstances in addition.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5
The student knows
- how to identify and estimate the need for first aid, can give immediate first aid in different situations, can prevent accidents and is familiar with the medical health care in special circumstances.

Grade 3
The student knows
- how to identify the need for first aid, how to give immediate first aid, understands the need for preventing accidents and is familiar with the medical health care in special circumstances.

Grade 1
The student knows
- how to pay attention to the needs of first aid, how to give immediate first aid and knows the main features of medical health care in special circumstances.

Assessment Methods

Exam and numerical evaluation 0-5.
Obligatory presence in scheduled training.
