Learning Outcomes

Understand the organization, provision, and regulation of social and health care services in Finland.

Comprehend the hierarchy of social and health care services and the roles of different units within care and service chains.

Internalize the meaning of integration and collaboration in social and health care and its implications for future expertise.



Social care competencies: client work competence, service system competence, critical and participatory societal competence.

Health care competencies: client-centeredness, service system competence in social and health care.

Contents

Basics of social and health care and client understanding of service system components, roles, and responsibilities. SOTE structure: wellbeing regions, municipalities, supervisory authorities, private services, social sector competence centers, NGOs. Integration and collaboration in social and health care. Development, changes, challenges, and future outlook. Guidance and supervision (AVI, Valvira). Equality and diversity. Client-related legislation. Regional perspective on the service system. International influences and EU impacts.

Level 5:

Comprehensively explains and critically evaluates the organization and regulation of social and health care services.

Demonstrates understanding of service hierarchy and integration, applying knowledge to complex scenarios.

Provides justified recommendations for improving collaboration and service systems.

Shows excellent ability to integrate legal, ethical, and international perspectives into analysis.

Level 3:

Explains key principles of social and health care organization and regulation.

Understands service hierarchy and integration and applies knowledge in typical scenarios.

Identifies challenges and proposes basic solutions for collaboration and service systems.

Applies legal and ethical perspectives with some guidance.

Level 1:

Recognizes basic principles of social and health care organization and regulation.

Identifies main service units and their roles with limited understanding of integration.

Shows basic awareness of legal and ethical perspectives.

Participates in discussions and tasks under guidance.
