Learning Outcomes

The student becomes familiar with written and oral communication in their professional field.

The student is able to:

- communicate in English in basic customer service situations within their field and recognize the specific features of communication in their profession.

- discuss and write about professional topics in English and acquire in-depth knowledge in a chosen area of expertise.

- use English to obtain information both during their studies and in working life.

The student maintains a positive attitude towards language learning.
The student understands that language learning is a continuous process and that progress is possible regardless of their starting level. The most important factors are personal engagement, the willingness to learn, and making the best effort to improve.

Contents

Texts related to the student's professional field, workplace communication situations, oral and written exercises, content integrated into the student's profession, and industry-specific vocabulary. Part of the course is integrated into another course within the study program.

Assessment Criteria

Proficiency Level 5
The student has strong language skills and successfully manages various workplace communication situations. They have a solid grasp of grammatical structures and use them flexibly. The student applies industry-specific vocabulary and expressions idiomatically and extensively. Their attitude toward language learning is positive, and they are continuously motivated to improve their language skills.

Proficiency Level 3
The student manages reasonably well in the most common and predictable workplace communication situations. They use structures and phrases in their communication in a somewhat idiomatic way. The student applies the industry-specific vocabulary learned during the course. Their attitude toward language learning is positive.

Proficiency Level 1
The student can participate in the most common and predictable workplace communication situations using simple structures and individual words. They work on developing their command of industry-specific vocabulary during the course. Their attitude toward language learning is positive.

Assessment Methods

Active participation, passed evaluation on oral and written assignments, continuous assessment, oral and written evaluation, with an emphasis on oral assessment. Grading scale: 0-5.
