Learning Outcomes
The student knows different drug preparations. The student knows expected and harmful effects of drugs.The student knows the regulations and norms which direct medication care and know-how demands of the nurse's medication care. The student knows the basic concepts of the medical treatment and the effects of medicines and the information retrieval methods. The student commands the mathematical basics required for the solving of medicine dosage calculations. The student carries out the patient's pharmacotherapy

The assesment of student's own learning 1 h and execises 12 h is included in contact lessons.
Contents
Drug preparates. Pharmacological properties of drugs. The drugs for cardiovascular diseases, pain killers, drugs for pulmonary diseases and psychopharmaca. Regulation concerning pharmacotherapy and the patient's rights in pharmacotherapy. Central concepts and medicine forms and the different ways of giving the medicine. Absorption, division and eliminating of drugs in organs. Central effect mechanisms of the drugs in the human organism. Follow-up and documentation of pharmacotherapy. Dosage of medicines the natural way and as injections. Ordering, storing and destroying of medicines. Implementing prescriptions and acquisition of the information which is related to the medical treatment. Mathematical basic skills. Drug dosage calculations. Practical exercises on implementing pharmacotherapy

Grade 5
The student
- describe and to estimate the medical treatment of central illnesses and the special characteristics of the medical treatments to be used
- to describe and to estimate the side-effects and interactions of used medical treatments
-is able to calculate medicine dosages correctly
-is able to describe and control the implementation of the regulations, norms, and recommendations regarding pharmacotherapy and can make development suggestions
- knows the concepts of pharmacotherapy and its implementation, works with a patient-oriented approach and is able to search for information in different pharmacotherapeutic data bases systematically
- can implement the patient´s pharmacotherapy / prescription, can make a self-evaluation and development suggestions

Assessment Methods
Theoretical exam, numerical evaluation/grading (0-5). Learning assignments, exercises, dosage calculation exam and virtual prescription test; evaluation pass/fail. Exercises 100 % participating.
