Learning Outcomes

After completing the course, the student will be able to:

- Plan, implement, and evaluate guidance for a client/patient/student using various methods based on their needs.
- Take into account relevant laws and ethical considerations in guidance and justify their choices accordingly.
- Search for, evaluate, and apply reliable information in guidance and nursing.
- Assess their own guidance skills and develop them based on feedback, as well as provide constructive feedback to others.

What is guidance?
Guidance from the perspective of laws and ethics

Guidance needs:
- Client’s/patient’s resources, identifying the need for guidance, motivation, and recognizing barriers to learning, along with different forms of support for them
- Client-/patient-centeredness and solution-focused guidance

Guidance methods:
- Group and individual guidance
- Informational, social, emotional, and culturally-oriented guidance
- Written guidance, skills guidance, family member guidance, student guidance, Teach-Back method
- Remote guidance in digital services

Guided self-management model (Therapies to the Frontline) and motivational interviewing

- describe theoretically the factors related to the need, implementation and evaluation of guidance and be able to apply this information
- take into account the different backgrounds and needs of the clients in the guidance and teaching independently and in a client-oriented manner, and act on a situation-specific basis
- to search for, use and evaluate reliable and up-to-date information to support guidance and teaching

Level 3
The student is able to:
- describe theoretically the factors related to the need for, implementation and evaluation of guidance
- to take into account the different backgrounds and needs of clients, work independently and with professional approach in teaching and supervision situations
- seek and use reliable information in guidance and nursing

Level 1

The student is able to:
- describe factors related to education, learning and assessment
- take into account the different backgrounds and needs of patients and clients in the guidance / teaching situation
- search for and use reliable information in guidance and nursing
