Learning Outcomes

After completing the course, the student knows how and why electrical energy is stored. The student can discuss the importance of electrical energy storage from the perspective of the electricity network and society. The student is familiar with different energy storage technologies, with an emphasis on battery technologies. The student is familiar with the key concepts and technologies of battery sizing and battery management. The student can calculate the life cycle cost of energy storage.

135 hours, with 45 hours of contact teaching.

Contents

Electricity storage applications. Electricity network needs for energy storage. Energy storage technologies. Technologies and terminology for battery-based energy storage. Battery Management System (BMS). Energy Management Systems (EMS). Energy storage life cycle cost.
