Learning Outcomes

The student
- is able to recognize the philosophical and ethical basis for research and development work
- knows the points of different types of research
- is able to write a well-grounded research plan
- is able to use common data collection methods and explain his/her choices
- knows the principles of research communication and is able to apply them
- gets acquainted with writing a thesis.

Total workload of the course is 80 hours
- of which scheduled studies 33 hours and autonomous studies is 47 hours.

Prerequisites: Hoitotiede, hoitotyön etiikka ja näyttöön perustuva toiminta 4 op.

Contents

Philosophical and ethical basis of research and development, research and development process, different types of research, making a research plan, data collection methods
Communication: Citation practices, citation of sources, compilation of a list of sources, time formats / 4 hours.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures, group discussions, self-directed work under the guidance of a teacher and made it possible to present one's own preliminary research plan.

Assessment Criteria

Level 5:
- the student prepares a substantiated research plan as an assignment in accordance with the assignment. The research plan is excellent, includes all the key points, has a good language, the sources are marked correctly and may already be tentatively approved by your thesis supervisor. In addition, the subject is good. The task has been returned according to the agreed schedule.

Level3:
- the student prepares a substantiated research plan as an assignment in accordance with the assignment. The research plan is quite good and contains the main points, is legible in terms of language, the sources are mostly recorded correctly. The task has been returned according to the agreed schedule.

Level 1:
- the student prepares a substantiated research plan as an assignment in accordance with the assignment. The research plan must be satisfactory, including mainly the main points. The task has been returned according to the agreed schedule.

Rejected: Completely incomplete or pending study plan. In this case, the student takes a re-exam, which is a book exam.
