Learning Outcomes
The student knows how to interpret the theoretical and pedagogical approaches of early childhood education and how to support the growth, development, learning and welfare of a child. The student is able to critically evaluate education and parenting conventions. The student knows how to observe, plan, evaluate and document early childhood pedagogics from a child-base.
Student's Workload
Altogether 82 hours, of which 40 contact hours and 42 hours of independent study. The assesment of student's own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Sensitive educator. Having own caretaker. Small group activity. Day-care as a support for parenting and a measure of support for child welfare. Observing, planning, evaluating and documenting child-specific early childhood pedagogics as a practical tool.

Assessment Criteria
Grade 5
The student knows to evaluate the theoretical and pedagogical approaches of early childhood education. The student knows to explain the education conventions that he has chosen in a way that appreciates the child and takes into consideration the child’s needs. He knows variously to plan, realize, evaluate and document his work that is based on the observing of an individual child and of a child group.
Grade 3-4
The student knows to compare the theoretical and pedagogical approaches of early childhood education. The student knows to explain the education conventions that he has chosen in a way that appreciates the child and takes into consideration the child’s needs. He knows how to plan, realize, evaluate and document his work that is based on the observing of an individual child and of a child group.
Grade 1-2
The student knows how to describe the theoretical and pedagogical approaches of early childhood education. He knows to recognize different education conventions and is able to explain their significance for the growth and development of a child. He knows to understand the meaning of planning, realizing, evaluating and documenting of early childhood education as a work-guiding principle.
