Learning Outcomes

The student knows the most common medical and psychiatric diseases, special characteristics of elderly people´s diseases and the examination and treatmen methods. The student is familiar with the structure and functions of the human organism.

Contents

The most common psychiatric illnesses, examination and treatment. The most common diseases in Finland,examination and treatment. Anatomy and physiology II. Geriatrics. Diabetes and the heart patient's and gout patient's diet.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1
The student knows:
- how to tell about the most common diseases
- how to describe the most common methods of examination and treatment
- how to tell about the structure and functions of human organism and knows the basic concepts in Latin

Grade 3
The student
- is able to identify the effects of certain diseases on the patient's/the client's life
- is able to prepare the patient/ the client for different examinations and treatments
- knows the structure and functions of the human organism and is able to use the basic concepts also in Latin

Grade 5
The student
-is able to evaluate and understand the effects of certain diseases and the treatment of the patient
-is able to plan, prepare, implement and evaluate the treatment and examination of a patient/ client
- is able to understand the interaction between disease/health and the human organism and is able to use concepts in Latin on a professional level

Written Exams 100 %: numeric scale/ grading 0-5
