Learning Outcomes

The student evaluates the relationship between work and health and makes a work place survey. The student guides the client in preventing work-related and general health riskts and identifies the need for rehabilitation. The student identifies diseases related to work, factors threatening the ability to work, occupational diseases and is able to refer the client to care when it is necessary. The student estimates the employee´s exposure to different substances and risk/ accident factors and makes development suggestions to develop a healthier and safer work place in cooperation with different occupational groups. The student analyses his/her professional knowledge and skills.

Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Service system . Working conditions, work place surveys.The relationship between work and health, work-related health risks, safe work environment.Ability to work and maintaining that ability. Follow-up of the employee's health, occupational health nursing, work-related occupational diseases, industrial accidents and rehabilitation. Multiprofessional cooperation, motivating interview, work supervision and professional growth

The student :

Grade 1
- can identify the relationship between work and health and can guide the client
- is able to describe work-related diseases and can refer the client to care
- is able to describe the employee´s exposure to risk factors and substances and accidents
- understands the meaning of the work community
- understands the meaning of continuous guidance in her/his future work

Grade 3
- can evaluate the relationship between work and health and can guide the client
- is able to prevent work-related diseases and general health risks and refers the client to care
- is able to identify the employee´s exposure to risk factors and substances and accidents
- is able to work in multiprofessional teams
- is able to apply to guidance and knowledge in his/her own work
Grade 5
- can evaluate independently and with a client-oriented approach the relationship between work and health and can guide the client in preventing different health risks
- is able to identify work-related diseases and can refer the client to care when necessary
- is able to evaluate the employee´s exposure to risk factors and substances and accidents
- is able to work in a multiprofessional team and make development suggestions
- is able to evaluate and develop his/her own way of working
