Learning Outcomes

The student has knowledge of the premises for mental health care, drug therapy and management of crisis situations. The student gets an insight of the service systems and central legislation concerning psychiatric care, management of crisis situations and drug therapy. The student grasps capacities to create a positive and helping interactive relationships to clients and their nearest. The student can identify problems and needs related to mental health and use of drugs and can respond to the needs by using methods of care. The student can identify a client in crisis and can support her/him in the different stages of the crisis.

Contents

Central concepts and premises of mental health care and drug therapy, legislation concerning mental health care and drug therapy, care and service systems. Mental health care, drug therapy and psychiatric care. Traumatic crisis situations. Methods of managing crisis situations.
