Learning Outcomes

The student understands the significance of the maintenance grant in the social security system. After the course the student will be familiar with the orientations of the maintenance grant and is able to make an estimate and a decision of a maintenance grant. The student perceives the phases of the petitioning of a maintenance grant decision.

Student's Workload

Amount of work altogether 52 hrs, of which 26 contact hours and 26 hours of independent study. The assesment of student's own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents

Maintenance grant as a welfare service, law of maintenance grant, making an estimate and a decision of a maintenance grant, petitioning, preventative maintenance grant, demand for payment.

Passed
The student knows how to handle a basic maintenance grant application with a computer programme from writing the proceedings, through the calculation and to the decision. The student knows the meaning and structure of the maintenance grant and is familiar with the stages of appeal. Active participation.

Failed
The student doesn´t know how to handle a basic maintenance grant application with a computer programme from writing the proceedings, through the calculation and to the decision. The student doesn´t know the meaning and structure of the maintenance grant and is not familiar with the stages of appeal. Inactive participation. Absences not compensated.
