Learning Outcomes

The student gets familiar with special education´s ideas of man, objectives and practices. The student will learn to recognize and evaluate the need for special education.

Student's Workload

The assesment of student's own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents

Social and emotional problems in growing and development. The need for special education. Supporting a child with special needs. Special groups in day-care centres. Possibility for support in schools. Special pedagogics and adulthood. Supported employment.

Lectures, independent studies.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 4-5: The student knows to evaluate, analyse and make comparisons in the field of assignments in special pedagogics. The student is capable of forming a general view of the significance of different factors in the work of social services.
Grade 3: The student knows how to apply and use the concepts of special pedagogics in new situations and in problem-solving.
Grade 1-2: The student knows to explain and interpret the concepts of special pedagogics.

Assessment Methods

Group work 50 %, exam 50%. Numeric evaluation.
