Learning Outcomes

The purpose of this course is that the student knows the basic facts about health promotion in Finland, is familiar with the concepts and legislation within health promotion, and understands the strategy of health promotion policies and the goal of national and international recommendations. The student is aware of the current challenges and has means to help a client to meet these challenges.

Contents

Concepts and theories concerning Health and Health Care in Finland, Population, Living conditions, Lifestyles, Health needs at different stages of life, Legislation concerning health promotion, Health promotion policies and recommendations, Current challenges.

Material will be shared in the Moodle study portal.
Recommended litterature: Green J. &Tones K. (2010) Health Promotion.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures 6 h, e-learning 17 h, seminars 4 h.

Assessment Criteria

Pass:
- the student knows the basic facts about health promotion in Finland, is familiar with the concepts and legislation within health promotion, and understands the strategy of health promotion policies and the goal of national and international recommendations.
- the student is aware of the current challenges and has means to help a client to meet these challenges.
Fail:
- the student does not know the basic facts about health promotion, is unfamiliar with the concepts and legislation within health promotion, or does not understand the strategy of health promotion policies and the goal of national and international recommendations. The student is unable to help clients in coping with current challenges.
