Learning Outcomes
The student is familiar with the legislation related to medical treatment and the principles and requirements of other instructions concerning medical treatment. The student is aware of the meaning of medical care in the work of a social services expert and recognizes his responsibility in executing it. The student understands the importance of safe medical treatment for the welfare of the client and knows how to evaluate his own operations related to it. The student knows how to calculate perfectly the right dosage of a medical preparation for the client when necessary. The student knows the units of cubic measure and measure of unit.
Student's Workload
Work load: 54 h, of which 26 contact hours, 27 hours of independent stud26. The assesment of student's own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents
Different forms of medication and modes of distributing, safe manipulation and storage of medical preparations, absorbing of medical preparation into the system and out of the system, giving a subcutaneous injection, evaluation of the effects of a medicine.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods
Lectures, assignments and practical exercise classes, virtual teaching. Practical training in small groups: portioning the medicine and giving injections. Practise of portioning the medicine: training portioning calculations with solid, fluid and injection
Assessment Criteria
Evaluation criteria: The evaluation consists of two parts: theory part and drug calculations. The course is regarded to be passed when both parts have been performed acceptably.
1) Theory part:
Grade 1-2: The student is familiar with the legislation and other directions concerning medication. The student is familiar with customs in the distribution of drugs and is familiar with the basics of safe medication. The student performs his drug calculations flawlessly.
Grade 3-4: The student is familiar with the legislation and other directions concerning medication. The student is familiar with the basics of safe medication and knows how to evaluate the necessity of medication based on the client. The student is familiar with the different customs in the distribution of drugs. The student performs his drug calculations flawlessly.
Grade 5: The student is familiar with the legislation and other directions concerning medication. The student is familiar with the basics of safe medication and knows how to evaluate his own actions and the necessity of medication based on the client. The student is familiar with the different customs in the distribution of drugs and their effect mechanisms. The student performs his drug calculations flawlessly.
2) Drug calculations
Grade: Passed – failed
Assessment Methods
1) Theory exam 2) Medicine calculations (flawless performance). After passing the study block the student gets a certification (Medical treatment –passport). The course will be evaluated numerically on the grounds of the theory part.
