Learning Outcomes
The student understands the social, economical, political and cultural structures and processes of the society. The student is familiar with development of Finnish welfare society to date and is familiar with and knows how to evaluate the Finnish society and lifestyle today. The student knows how to connect the changes in social structure and lifestyle into the everyday life of people and evaluate them from the point of view of work in the social services.

Contents
The basic concepts of sociology, social politics and economics. The structure, development and function of Finnish society. Well-being and the Welfare state. Lifestyle. Modern society and sustainable development.

Evaluation criteria: Concerning the assignments in Moodle.
K5: The choice of perspective is well justified. The text contains a lot of student’s own reasoning. Versatile examples regarding the work in social services and people’s everyday life. Logical, justified and complementary connection between the materials. The material has been chosen with care and justified.
H3-H4: The student could have considered the perspective more. The text contains student’s own reasoning. Some connections to the social services are represented. The material has a connection but the justification is insignificant.
T1-T2: The perspective is not central to the subject. The things that are discussed in the material have been represented in direct quotes. Few or no examples of the connection to social services and no student’s own reasoning. The connection between the materials is distant/no justifications.
