Learning Outcomes

The student gets familiar with special education´s ideas of man, objectives and practices. The student will learn to recognize and evaluate the need for special education.

Contents

Social and emotional problems in growing and development. The need for special education. Supporting a child with special needs. Special groups in day-care centres. Possibility for support in schools. Special pedagogics and adulthood. Supported employment.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1-2: The student remembers, understands and knows how to explain and interpret the concepts of special pedagogics.
Grade 3: The student knows how to apply and use the concepts of special pedagogics in new situations and in problem-solving.
Grade 4-5: The student is able to evaluate, analyse and make comparisons in the field of assignments in special pedagogics. The student is capable of forming a general view of the significance of different factors in the work of social services.

Assessment Methods

Group work 50 %, exam 50%. Numeric evaluation.
